Ukrainian businesses will be allowed to import electricity from the EU to avoid blackouts.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved a regulation that deals with the peculiarities of the import of electric energy during the autumn-winter period of 2022/2023 under martial law. The document creates conditions for supplying imported electricity to consumers on a market basis, along with additional protection against planned forced shutdowns due to existing balance constraints in the combined energy system. Electricity selection restrictions will not apply to consumers supplied with imported electricity until April 30, 2023. At the same time, in the case of special shutdown schedules, which are necessary to prevent a systemic breakdown in the unified energy system due to aggression from the Russian Federation, the supply of imported electricity to consumers may stop.
