Ukraine increased the production of mortar and artillery shells to a record level.

Ukraine’s defense industry is increasing the production of ammunition and Stugna-P anti-tank systems. More mortar and artillery shells were produced in June than in 2022, notes Oleksandr Kamyshin, Minister of Strategic Industries.

He emphasized that ammunition is crucial in Ukraine’s defense, and the next priority will be the production of tanks and armored vehicles. However, it will take three to six months to get results.

The Ukrainian Minister aims to remake Ukraine’s sprawling defense industry – known for decades for corruption and inefficiency – into an engine for the war effort that will decide the fate of the country. All this is taking place while fighting rages around his plants. The minister also stated his desire to turn Ukraine into a leading manufacturer and exporter of weapons, as this will strengthen the recovery of the country’s economy.
