About 80% of Ukrainian refugees plan to return home.

This survey data was made public by a representative of the UN Refugee Agency in Ukraine, Karolina Lindholm Billing. This applies to both internally displaced persons and refugees abroad. Thus, 76% of refugees from EU countries and Moldova and 82% of internally displaced Ukrainians plan, or hope, to return.

The study showed that the main factor preventing the return of these Ukrainians is the issue of security – this was indicated by 90% of refugees abroad and 95% of internally displaced persons. Among other factors, they mentioned the availability of homes, access to public services, availability of work, and access to education for children.

It is noted that a large part of Ukrainians living abroad and about 50% of IDPs have returned home at least once. This helps maintain family ties and community contacts, making future returns easier.
