16 NATO member countries have officially supported Ukraine’s accession to the Alliance.

On May 4, during a visit to the Netherlands, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a joint declaration with the heads of the governments of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, and Alexander de Croo.

The document covers the most important topics of the joint agenda: meeting Ukraine’s urgent defense needs, supporting the Ukrainian Peace Formula, Ukraine gaining NATO membership and guaranteeing Ukraine’s security, holding Russia accountable, as well as further strengthening anti-Russian sanctions and developing a mechanism to compensate for damages caused by Russian aggression.

This declaration significantly specifies the issue of Euro-Atlantic integration. In it, Ukraine also recorded the need to consider the issue of security guarantees during the Vilnius NATO summit.

The document expresses formal support for Ukraine in the Euro-Atlantic direction by 16 NATO member states, which is half of the Alliance, including Sweden.
