While Ukraine is working to unblock its borders, Poland is preparing significant restrictions on Ukrainian products.

Polish authorities plan to restrict Ukrainian products such as sugar, poultry meat, eggs, frozen raspberries, apple juice, sunflower, and rapeseed oil. Thus, the restrictions on grain are planned to be replaced.

“We want substantial restrictions on the import of sensitive goods from Ukraine and detailed and even stricter border checks,” said Poland’s Minister of Agriculture Czeslaw Siekierski.

In turn, Ukraine is preparing for reasonable compromises. This, according to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, is the plan to unblock the border in five steps: The first step is Ukraine’s agreement to the restrictions proposed by the EC for agricultural exports and further verification of exports to Poland.

The second is an appeal to the EC with a proposal to conduct an analysis of clusters, including agricultural policy and transport, in order to remove any manipulations regarding the quality of Ukrainian products.

The third step is a joint appeal with Poland to the EC with a call to stop Russian agricultural exports to the EU.

The fourth is the creation of the Tripartite Headquarters: Ukraine, Poland, and the EU.

The fifth is unblocking the passage of humanitarian aid, medical supplies, and fuel across the border.
