Ukraine might launch the first flights from three cities by the end of the year.

Ukraine is working with Israeli experts to take advantage of their experience in civil aviation flights in conditions that include possible attacks by drones, missiles, and other threats to aircraft.

There are two options that are being considered for the resumption of flights from Ukraine by the end of 2023, said the CEO of Ryanair, Michael O’Leary. The first option: the war is over, and everything opens in a day or two. The second, and most likely, is that Ryanair will schedule a few flights at the end of this year.

“Can we convince the European and Ukrainian security authorities that the flights will be safe, that they can protect the plane from drones and missiles as it happens in Israel? The Ukrainian authorities are working with the right people to try to reopen the airspace,” O’Leary said.

According to him, it seems safe to launch a limited number of flights to Kyiv and Lviv today. In addition, according to the head of Ryanair, it will soon be safe to launch flights from Odesa as well.
