Ukraine increased imports of coal by 18% during the first half of this year,

to 10.1 million tons. In response to shortages at thermal power plants last winter, the imported coal bill nearly hit $1 billion for the first half. Top sources of coal: Russia – 60%; US – 22.5%; and Kazakhstan – 11.7%.
