Ukraine imported $7.1B of agricultural products last year; imports increased by 13%.

According to the Institute of Agrarian Economics, in 2023 Ukraine imported agricultural products worth $7.1B, 13% more than in 2022.

Last year, the EU countries maintained their position as the leading supplier of agricultural products to Ukraine. The cost of these goods increased by 9% compared to 2022 and amounted to $3.68B. At the same time, the share of EU countries exceeded half of the total domestic import of agricultural food products for the fifth year in a row and amounted to 51.6%.

The volume of supplies from Asian countries amounted to $1.37B (19.1%), Latin America – $511M (7.2%), and Africa – $326M (4.6%). At the end of the year, the leader in terms of import volume was Poland, selling goods worth $950M ($881M in 2022).

In addition, Turkey ($627M), Germany ($534M), the US ($252M), China ($216M), and several other countries played an essential role in domestic imports. Food imports last year became the fourth largest by value since Ukraine’s independence.
