The Western allies plan to provide €100B to Ukraine in 2023.

Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur made this statement before a meeting of NATO defense ministers. “We are trying to help Ukraine by allocating approximately €100B of military assistance this year. “This should be our goal because now this number is less,” said Pevkur. For example, let’s take Estonia’s share. The minister clarified that it is only one-fifth of their GDP because Estonia has already provided approximately €400M of military aid, which is 1.1% of their GDP. Pevkur added that if you take all the countries of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine, the combined GDP will be about €50 trillion. The minister said he would call on his colleagues at the meeting to increase military aid to Ukraine. He also advocates more active implementation of joint weapons purchases at the European Union level.
