The US will allocate $89M to Ukraine for demining.

The US State Department will allocate $89M in the 2022 fiscal year to help the government of Ukraine solve urgent problems related to demining its territory, the State Department said in a statement. The funds will be used to fund 100 teams of sappers who will work “in areas with the greatest amount of contamination” over the next year and provide them with the necessary equipment. According to Ukraine’s assessment, about 160,000 square kilometers are considered contaminated with explosive objects.
