The government is planning a partial privatization of large state-owned companies to attract billions of dollars.

The Ministry of Economy is currently working on legislative changes that will enable the privatization of shares in large state-owned companies, said the Minister of Economy, Oleksiy Sobolev. “We are currently preparing a new stage, and we are considering selling shares of large state-owned companies. We have not done this yet, and the legislation is not fully ready; we need to make small changes to several laws to make it happen”, he said.
The minister noted that to accelerate the process it is necessary to resolve the issue of state-owned companies’ significant debt, which is delaying their preparations for sale. “We have prepared such legal changes, and now we are working with the parliament to implement them quickly. This will allow us to significantly increase revenue from privatization. Because despite the fact that we will meet the plan by the end of the year, we need much more – billions of dollars, and so far, we see only billions of hryvnias“, Sobolev emphasized.
However, according to him there is no specific list of new companies whose shares can be sold as part of a large privatization yet.
