The first stage of Ukrainian pilot training on the F-16 will occur in Britain.
The pilot training will take place in Great Britain. Ukraine is prepared to send 20 military personnel who speak English well, which is crucial for faster learning. The training course involves training on simulators first and then on actual aircraft. It is likely that the initial training aircraft will not be the F-16 at first – simpler jets will be utilized.
As well, Norway supports the fighter jet coalition and the training of Ukrainian pilots, Norwegian Defense Minister Björn Arild Gram said.
Next month Denmark and the Netherlands, in cooperation with the US, will begin to develop a training base for comprehensive training of Ukrainian pilots on fourth-generation aircraft.
Additionally, Norway, Belgium, Portugal, and Poland have offered their contributions.
According to NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, the timing of the final decision on the provision of aircraft to Ukraine will depend on how the situation on the battlefield develops.
