The European Union wants to digitalize customs.

By 2025, the European Union plans to implement a new e-customs system. The main goals of the e-Customs Initiative are to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of customs procedures and processes by simplifying them or otherwise while ensuring interoperable customs systems available to economic operators throughout the EU. This makes customs not only a “collector of customs duties” but also a catalyst for the competitiveness of countries and companies, reported eurointegration.com.
