The EU is considering supplying Ukrainian grain to Egypt due to the worsening situation in Gaza.

The EU is considering the possibility of providing Ukrainian grain to Egypt within the framework of the agreement between Brussels and Cairo on migration restrictions and financial support in connection with the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Details of the deal have not been revealed, but it may include provisions for food imports, which have been a major economic risk factor for Egypt, with its 110 million people, even before the Gaza conflict began.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the deal would align with a similar document signed in early 2023 with Tunisia, which included funding for border management and economic support.

According to the chairman of the European Council, Charles Michel, Brussels is considering the possibility of using the corridors created to export grain from Ukraine to deliver agricultural products to Egypt.
