The EU has united Ukraine and Romania to improve the export capacities of the Danube ports.
The European Commission organized a tripartite meeting between Ukraine, the European Commission, and Romania to discuss the possibility of joint depth measurement in the Danube Delta, the Ministry of Infrastructure reported. The meeting took place after Ukraine completed dredging operations on the Danube, which Romania opposed. During the meeting the parties agreed to expand navigation on the Danube utilizing new piloting methods on the joint Ukrainian-Romanian river sector. This will increase the number of ship calls to the Danube ports. The parties also agreed that developing efficient and safe navigation on the Danube River is possible through productive and harmonious cooperation with colleagues from the European Commission, Romania, and the Danube Commission. During the war, the ports of Izmail, Reni, and Ust-Dunaisk have tripled their cargo flow, exporting more than 17 million tons of cargo.
