The EU has invited Ukraine to the customs-free convention.
A decision was made to invite Ukraine to the Convention on the Common Transit Procedure and the Convention on the Simplification of Formalities in Trade in Goods, announced the State Customs Service of Ukraine. As a result, Ukraine became the 36th country to join the EU Convention on the Common Transit Procedure. This important decision will also allow Ukraine to join the Convention on the Simplification of Formalities in Trade in Goods. This decision was the result of consideration of the final EU evaluation mission’s conclusions, which took place from June 23-24, 2022. Vityanis Ališauskas, an international expert on customs issues, expects that the international application of the common transit system through Ukraine can begin as early as December 1, 2022.
