The EU approves the hydrogen corridor project from Ukraine to EU countries.

The EC included the hydrogen corridor from Ukraine in the list of joint and mutual interest projects for the European energy system. The European Parliament and the Council of the EU must consider these projects and have two months to accept or reject them. One of the 166 approved projects is the creation of a hydrogen corridor between Ukraine, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Germany.

“This project will serve as a powerful driver for the hydrogen industry’s development in Ukraine and will facilitate Ukrainian hydrogen’s access to the European energy market“, the GTS Operator said.

For the first time, the PCI list includes 65 hydrogen energy projects, which confirms the EU’s commitment to the green transition policy. EC-supported projects will have access to simplified permitting and regulatory procedures and will also be able to receive financial support from the EU Connecting Europe Facility.

The EC expects that the implementation of the projects will help double the capacity of EU networks by 2030 and reach a 42.5% share of energy obtained from RES.
