The EU approves the allocation of €1B for ammunition for Ukraine.

On April 13, the EU Council approved the allocation of €1B as part of the European Peace Fund (EPF) to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is noted that this will allow the EU to reimburse member states for the cost of ammunition transferred to Ukraine from existing stocks due to changing the priorities of current orders from February 9 to May 31, 2023.

“This decision implements the first part of the EU Council’s March 20 agreement on a tripartite approach aimed at accelerating the supply and joint procurement of artillery ammunition,” the EU Council website states.

Together with the previous seven tranches, this decision increases the EU contribution to Ukraine under the EPF to €4.6B.
