Russia has withdrawn from the grain agreement, which it has been sabotaging for a long time.

The Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytriy Peskov, officially informed Turkey, Ukraine, and the UN about the grain deal’s closure.

The Administration of Sea Ports of Ukraine reports that the world did not receive 25 million tons of agricultural products due to Russia’s sabotage of the agreement. A complete stoppage of exports through Ukraine seaports threatens food security for the entire world and will deepen the crisis in poor countries.

The White House says that Russia’s withdrawal from the agreement will mean it has turned its back on providing the countries of the Global South, which includes parts of Africa, Latin America, and Asia, with the cheap food they need.

The President of Turkey plans to discuss this issue with Putin because he believes the Russian president wants to extend the agreement’s validity.

World wheat prices reacted to the situation by increasing. Futures on the Chicago Stock Exchange rose by 6.7%, European futures by 2%.
