Romania will create five anchorages for the transshipment of Ukrainian grain in the port of Constanta; the Danube route’s capacities are increasing.

The Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) initiated the creation of anchorages in Romanian territorial waters for transshipment of Ukrainian grain from barges to large-tonnage ships to significantly reduce the cost of logistics and contribute to the development of an efficient route.

The UGA worked with the government, ministries, and other central authorities to create favorable conditions to develop port infrastructure on the Danube and to improve efficiency and reduce the cost of logistics in the Danube ports, through a reduction in the price of railway transport through Moldova for Ukrainian grain and switching to a 24-hour mode of operation of the Sulina Canal in Romania, among other measures.

As a result, exports through the Danube ports since the full-scale invasion have increased from 40,000 tons to four million tons per month.
