Lithuania makes a statement regarding Ukraine’s accession to NATO.

The process of Ukraine’s accession to NATO should begin regardless of the war, and security guarantees for Ukraine need to be increased now, said Lithuanian Defense Minister Arvydas Anushauskas. According to the minister, the most important thing is not the simplified procedure for joining NATO, but the unanimous agreement among the 30 NATO countries that Ukraine can be accepted into NATO, and the process itself should begin regardless of the war. He noted that, in this case, the Western countries cannot maintain the same position that were held before the war. Furthermore, the minister emphasized that security guarantees for Ukraine should have already been increased.
