Khmelnytskyi spends €35M to resume the reconstruction of a landfill and the construction of a waste processing complex.

Currently, tender procedures are being conducted in both directions, said Deputy Mayor of Khmelnytskyi Mykola Vavryshchuk. “We have three participants: a Polish, a Greek-Turkish, and an American company. We hope to get a contractor to construct a waste processing complex in the spring,” the official said.

The first stage of the tender for the reclamation of the existing landfill and the construction of two new sites for the landfill is underway. Vavryshchuk noted that work on the project to reconstruct the solid household waste landfill and construct a waste processing complex in Khmelnytskyi began in 2019.

In October 2020, the project attracted a €28.5M loan from the EBRD. In addition, the city received €5M in grant funds from the EU Neighborhood Investment Platform, and last year attracted another €1.25M in grant money for the implementation of these projects.
