Ferrexpo is investing in the construction of a 10.8 MW solar power plant and electrifying its production processes.

The metallurgical company Ferrexpo plans to build a solar power plant with a capacity of 10.8 MW for its production needs, said Viktor Lotous, chairman of the board of Poltava MPP. He states that the company already has a 5 MW SPP, which works exclusively to meet production needs and does not receive any money from energy sales through the green tariff.

Lotous noted that after the resumption of massive Russian attacks on the Ukrainian energy system, the company also faced electricity problems. However, the enterprise’s electricity can be supplied from different parts of the power grid, not being limited to a single route.

At the same time, the company plans to build a trolleybus line on the territory of the Yeristovo mine for use by heavy dump trucks that will deliver ore from the quarries. This process electrification will save the company $400M over 10 years and reduce carbon emissions by more than 500,000 tons.
