The permanent representatives of the EU members at Monday’s meeting again were not able to reach an agreement on the sixth package of sanctions against Russia. “The meeting of EU ambassadors is over. There may be some changes in the conclusions of the European Commission on sanctions, which EU leaders will discuss, but the sixth package of sanctions is still very far away. Discussions on the EU sanctions have been going on for more than a month. The EU “cannot afford” for no agreement to be reached on the bloc’s proposed sixth round of sanctions against Russia, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said Monday. The main obstacle is the inability to agree on an embargo on oil imports from Russia, which Hungary opposes.
