The 11th century, King Canute, the all-powerful King of England, Denmark and Norway, is remembered today for having his courtiers carry his throne down to a beach. His Majesty ordered the tide to stop. Predictably, the waves soaked the hem of his robes. Today, Russia and Belarus’s Medicare Men cling to power, deluded by the illusion that botox and billy clubs will delay the inevitable. But time is not on their side. The generational wheel always turns. Look at the photos of Protasevich, of Sapega, of the Belarus protesters, of Russia’s Navalny supporters. These fresh faces represent the youth, the future of their countries. Putin and Lukashenko should prepare for the inevitable. Time stops for no man. With Best Regards, Jim Brooke
