Brussels has approved the use of €17B from EU funds to help refugees from Ukraine.

TODAY, the EU Council adopted legislative changes that will enable member states to redirect resources from Cohesion Policy Funds and the European Aid Fund for the Most Deprived (FEAD) to help refugees fleeing Russian military aggression against Ukraine. The decision is an essential step in providing member states with sufficient resources to meet growing housing, education, and health needs. Continuing 100% funding, unlocking unplanned cohesion funding from 2014-2020, and the REACT-EU tranche for 2022 is estimated to release almost €17B that member states can use to help refugees.
