Biden spoke with Zelenskyy before announcing $1B in security assistance.

As CNN reported, US President Biden promised President Zelenskyy that the US will provide another $1B in security assistance for Ukraine. The new assistance package will include additional artillery, coastal defense weapons, and artillery ammunition and advanced rocket systems that Ukrainians need to support their defensive operations in the Donbas. The parties also discussed Secretary Austin’s efforts in Brussels to coordinate additional international support for the Ukrainian armed forces. Moreover, the US will also provide $225M in humanitarian assistance, which Biden said will go toward “supplying safe drinking water, critical medical supplies and health care, food, shelter, and cash for families to purchase essential items.”
