Baerbock and Lambrecht demand €2.2B for Ukraine.

German politicians, including the head of the Foreign Ministry and the minister of defense appealed to the head of the Ministry of Finance with a demand to provide €2.2B in 2023 for Ukraine’s military support. German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Green Party) and Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht (Social Democratic Party) are asking Finance Minister Christian Lindner to allocate significantly more funds for Ukraine’s military support next year, reported Der Spiegel. The ministers consider it necessary to create a special fund of €2.2B to help Kyiv. The message says that only with such a budget will Germany be able to “concretely and tangibly assume the responsibility” that its international partners expect from it.
