A Ukrainian pipe manufacturer invests $1B to maintain competitiveness in the global market.
Over the past several years, Interpipe, a Ukrainian producer of pipes and railway wheels, has invested about $1B in the construction of a modern electric steelmaking complex – Interpipe Steel, which already meets the goal of the European Green Deal for 2030 as well as lines capable of producing finished products, said CFO Serhiy Kuzmenko. He added that this opened new market segments for the company, including tubes with premium joints and wheels for high-speed passenger service.
“Despite today’s risks, including military ones, Interpipe continues to invest. We are a global player in steel pipes and railway product markets. We compete with other international players in these markets and cannot take a break even during the war. We accept current risks and continue to invest in the modernization of production facilities, in the development of new products, in the reduction of carbon emissions,” Kuzmenko emphasized.
