Ukrainian low-cost carrier SkyUp plans to offer regular flights to the EU in 2024.

The Maltese subsidiary of SkyUp MT is expected to assist with the effort, said the head of the airline, Dmytro Syeroukhov. SkyUp MT currently has one aircraft in its fleet, but by the end of 2023 it will be able to lease up to five aircraft.

The Ukrainian low-cost airline started working on creating a subsidiary in the European Union last year. The European certificate, which has already been obtained, will allow the airline to operate in Europe. In addition to working in Europe, SkyUp is considering one country outside the EU.

Currently, Ukrainian SkyUp’s fleet, according to the airline’s official data, consists of 12 Boeing 737 aircraft. The actual fleet includes 10 airliners, as two planes are blocked at the Khartoum airport in Sudan. Malta’s SkyUp MT flies on one Boeing 737, which it received from the parent company’s fleet.
