Zelenskyy is planning to visit Brussels this week.

During the visit, Zelenskyy is expected to speak at a special session of the European Parliament. However, the president himself is concerned about security issues related to the trip. His only visit abroad after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was a December trip to Washington, where he held talks with US President Joe Biden and spoke at a joint session of Congress. If Zelenskyy goes to Brussels, it will be his second visit outside of Ukraine since the beginning of the war. The potential trip coincides with Russian preparations for a large-scale attack. On February 9, 27 EU leaders are due to meet in Brussels for a summit to discuss Ukraine, migration, and the bloc’s response to the US Anti-Inflation Act.
