Training of Russian troops is being conducted in Belarus due to a lack of instructors and equipment.
According to British intelligence, Russia is experiencing difficulties in training mobilized reservists and conscripts for military service, and Belarusian territory is currently being used for training, said the British Ministry of Defense. Russia’s armed forces are already stretched to capacity, training the roughly 300,000 troops acquired by the “partial mobilization” announced on September 21, 2022. According to British intelligence, newly mobilized conscripts are likely to have minimal or no training. “Experienced officers and instructors have been deployed to combat operations in Ukraine, and some of them are likely to have died during the conflict”. Russian forces are conducting training in Belarus due to a shortage of instructors, ammunition, and equipment in Russia. “Deploying forces with little training generally provides an insignificant additional offensive combat potential”, believes British intelligence.
