40% of a UAH 1T state budget was spent on the army.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, state budget expenditures have amounted to almost UAH 1T ($29B). Of this, more than UAH 420B was spent on defense and security. According to Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, more than 40% of this amount was for the army’s needs. In particular, UAH 288B was spent on military salaries, and UAH 135B on the purchase and repair of military equipment, ammunition and defense products. He added that the Cabinet’s strategic priorities during the war were: financing of the army and defense, payment of all social obligations, and social protection for those in need.
