US intelligence has declassified data on Russian losses near Avdiivka to influence the Ukrainian aid decision.

The US released its intelligence data on Russian losses near Avdiivka since October, when Moscow began an active offensive in the area. Since then, more than 13,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded, and more than 220 combat vehicles have been destroyed. Data on losses were declassified to influence the allocation of financial aid to Ukraine, Politico wrote.

In addition, the data indicates that the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with Western support, are now conducting military operations that are bringing “some success.”

It is noteworthy that, following the release, the US Senate approved the country’s $886B defense budget for the next year, including funds to support Ukraine. The money is separate from a $111B supplemental funding bill that has stalled in Congress.

The budget provides $300M for security support to Ukraine in the 2024 fiscal year and the extension of the initiative until 2027.
