Ukrainian startup seeks $5M to establish the first factory for ecological battery production.

SorbiForce, a Ukrainian startup, has developed a technology for producing ecological batteries with a lifespan of up to 6,000 cycles (approximately 30 years). Outside of agricultural waste, the Arizona-based energy storage company claims to have used only carbon, water, and salt to create what they describe as the world’s first truly sustainable battery.
The team, led by material scientist Serhii Kaminskyi, SorbiForce co-founder and CEO, devised this idea after recognizing that agriculture generates up to 2.1 billion tons of waste annually. After their operational life, up to 95% of these battery cells can decompose into organic materials, while the remaining components are reusable. Unlike lithium-ion batteries, SorbiForce cells do not pose any risk of explosion or leakage of toxic substances.
Currently, SorbiForce is working to raise $270,000 on the StartEngini crowdfunding platform (having already secured $160,000) and will need $5M to launch the factory. In previous funding rounds, the startup successfully raised $687,000 and received a valuation of $20M.
