Ukrainian seaports increased their cargo turnover by 80% in 2024.
According to the results of the first three quarters of the year from the Ukrainian sea corridor’s operation, Ukrainian seaports increased cargo transshipment by 80% compared to the same period last year: 74 million tons were processed. Agricultural products comprised 62.6% of the export cargo flow (46.3 million tons), emphasizing its importance for the national economy and exports.
Ports in September recorded a cargo turnover of seven million tons, which is more than 100% higher than in the corresponding month last year when 3.4 million tons were handled. The transshipment of export agricultural goods amounted to 4.1 million tons or 58.6% of the cargo flow.
It should be noted that results from the first three quarters of 2024, achieved by six Ukrainian seaports, is 32.3 million tons inferior to the corresponding period of 2021, the last year before the full-scale invasion, when 13 seaports were operating. Last year, six ports provided more than 40% of all pre-war cargo turnover – almost 62 million tons of cargo.
