Ukrainian businesses from multiple industries continue to invest in green energy.

The Poltava oil extraction plant of the Kernel agricultural holding has transitioned to renewable energy sources certified by international organization Bureau Veritas Group. The company will fully provide the plant with renewable energy sourced from sunflower husks, which will decrease reliance on fossil fuels and cut greenhouse gas emissions by more than 11,000 tons annually. Autonomous electricity generation will also guarantee continuity in production.
The Poltava plant became the first enterprise in Ukraine’s food sector to join the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). The plant will contribute excess green energy to Ukraine’s energy system. Kernel’s Poltava oil extraction plant is designed to process up to 430,000 tons of sunflower seeds annually.
Concurrently, Cypriot FTD Investments LTD will acquire a stake in the companies Bolohyvsky Solar Park-1 and Bolohyvsky Solar Park-2, which manage solar power plants in the Zhytomyr region. The ultimate beneficiaries of FTD Investments are Ukrainian businesspeople who are founders of one of the largest electronics retailers in Ukraine, Foxtrot.
