Ukrainian agricultural exports will become a cornerstone in the process of European integration.

Ukrainian producers of goods constantly suffer from pressure from several EU countries, which try to limit the supply of their agricultural products in various ways, said the deputy head of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, Denys Marchuk. This is a test for the process of Ukraine’s European integration, especially in the agricultural sector.

“Ukraine’s accession to the EU involves the fulfillment of several requirements, of which about 40% are explicitly directed to the farming sector“, he noted.

The likely integration of Ukraine into the EU is a divisive component that has led to increased protests by European farmers.

“Ukrainian agricultural products are more competitive on European markets, even considering transport costs“, said Marchuk.

Ukrainian and European farmers struggle not only for places on supermarket shelves but also for the distribution of funds.

“Calculations show that with Ukraine’s full membership in the EU, subsidies for Ukrainian producers may amount to about €10B,” Marchuk concluded.
