Ukraine’s largest salt company was shut down due to the war.
Artemsil, Europe’s largest salt company, was shut down in April due to hostilities. The stock of finished products was taken out in April, announced Director of Artemsil Viktor Yurin. He said, “The enterprise is not working, and the production process is impossible because of constant shelling. The administrative building of the plant is partially destroyed.” Currently, most of the residents of Soledar city and employees of Artemsil have been evacuated. In order to supply enough salt to the Ukrainian market, the country needs to import the product from abroad. Moreover, not only Ukraine will suffer from the salt shortage, but also Hungary, Poland, Georgia, Moldova, Azerbaijan, and Romania, all consistently import large amounts of salt from the Artemsil plant.
