Ukraine’s indirect economic losses from the war exceed $1.1T.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion through July 2024, the total amount of Ukraine’s indirect losses, including current and projected losses of revenue and added value, is estimated at $1.164T and $385.7B, respectively, by the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE).

The productive sectors of the economy suffered the most significant indirect losses. Losses in trade amount to $450.5B, and other industries losses were estimated at $409.9B in construction and services and $83.1B in agriculture. Infrastructure sectors also suffered significant losses. In the energy sector, the damage amounts to $43.1B and in transport – $38.8B.

Ukraine’s economy will experience substantial additional costs. The largest of them is in demining – $42B, the housing sector – $22.4B (of which $15.4B are additional housing rental costs), social benefits – $10B, demolition – $13.4B. Reconstruction of housing and communal services will require an additional $7.7B, and losses in the financial sector are estimated at $4.3B.
