Ukraine voiced its expectations for the NATO summit.

According to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, the decision at the Vilnius Summit should provide for NATO’s commitment to Ukraine’s membership in the Alliance and guarantee security before joining it.

The minister believes the Alliance should offer Ukraine a clear membership algorithm by the end of 2023. Reznikov also emphasized the importance of NATO’s readiness to support the peace formula proposed by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

At the same time, emphasis is being placed on creating a mechanism for crisis consultations with Ukraine within the framework of Article 4 of the NATO Charter. Reznikov is convinced of the need to reformat the NATO-Ukraine Commission into the NATO-Ukraine Council with Ukraine’s transition to NATO standards in defense systems, medical aid, and demining.

The Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, noted that Ukraine is working on expanding the list of countries that support its future membership in the Alliance and the provision of security guarantees.
