Ukraine is technically ready for mutual recognition of digital signatures with the EU.
The Ukrainian electronic signature recently successfully passed testing at the eSignature Validation Plugtests 2022, announced by the Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov. “Mutual recognition of electronic signatures is an important part of the digital European integration plan. Therefore, our digital signatures should be accepted in any EU country,” he wrote. According to him, this creates many advantages for businesses and all Ukrainians. For example, it will be possible to receive services in the EU, for entrepreneurs to enter online contracts with foreign partners, open international accounts, etc. Fedorov added that the testing was conducted by the technical committee of the European Institute of Telecommunication Standards, ETSI, which is used in the EU countries in electronic trust services.
