Ukraine is preparing to restart concession projects in ports to attract investment.
The Ministry of Infrastructure is preparing new concession projects and restarting those whose implementation was stopped in Ukrainian ports, said Tymur Tkachenko, deputy head of the department.
“Preparations are underway to restart projects in the ports of Olbia and Kherson. In parallel, we are working on the company Ukrainian Danube Shipping (UDP) – this is critically important for strengthening the position of the company in the Danube transportation market and ensuring export supplies of grain, especially in the case of possible restrictions on access to deep-sea ports”, he said.
Tkachenko added that the work to update the implementation schedules for concession projects, which will help to determine the optimal terms for announcing concession tenders, is taking place in cooperation with the International Finance Corporation (IFC). According to Tkachenko, the priority tasks are the development of investment activity in Ukrainian ports, fleet modernization, and the attraction of private capital for infrastructure restoration and development.
