Ukraine has signed a memorandum to create a hydrogen supply corridor to the EU.

The GTS Operator of Ukraine and several domestic and international organizations signed a memorandum to create and implement the Central European Hydrogen Corridor. The memorandum outlines joint efforts to utilize the future potential of Ukraine’s renewable energy and its integration into the European energy market.

This initiative is aimed at the future development of renewable energy and hydrogen production in Ukraine and facilitating its transportation via pipelines to Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Germany after 2030. It is planned that the renewable hydrogen produced in Ukraine will be transported through the existing network of pipelines, some of which will be repurposed for hydrogen transportation.

Also, Bucha City will build a $500M green industrial zone by 2029. A project by Ukrainian company UTEM, Japanese Tsubame, and Polish Hynfra envisages the creation of an energy cluster that will produce green hydrogen and process it into ammonia, which will provide employment for 3,000 people. Money for the project will be provided by Japan and international financial institutions.
