Ukraine has reduced coal imports by 70% but increased exports.

In January-September 2022, Ukraine reduced the import of hard coal and anthracite by 3.2 times (by 10 million tons) to 4.5 million tons, compared to the same period last year. According to the State Customs Service, $1.1B  in coal was imported, 27.1% less than in January-September 2021 ($1.51B). $430.16M worth of coal came from the Russian Federation (pre-war supplies, share in imports 39.02%), $309.18M (28.04%) from the US, $127.43M (11.56%) from Australia, and $235.77M (21.38%) from other countries. Ukraine’s coal export for the first nine months of the year amounted to 624,200 tons for $191.3M. Ukraine sold coal to Slovakia, for $115.99M, Poland for $47.58M, Hungary for $25.16M, and $2.57M to other countries.
