Ukraine has increased imports of agricultural products from the EU by €285M.
Data for the first quarter shows that Ukraine imported more than €914M in agricultural products from the EU. This is €285M more than the import figure for the same period in 2022 and €107M more than the first quarter of 2021, Ukrainian farmers estimate.
Agricultural products worth almost €262.7M were imported from Poland in the first quarter. This is significantly more than the corresponding figure for 2022 (almost €93.2M) and 2021 (almost €76M).
Industry experts say that the list of imported products also includes humanitarian aid in addition to actual imports. Experts explain that a lack of products on the domestic market causes increased imports of some product groups. These are primarily vegetables, certain meats, dairy products, and eggs. The import total also includes alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and tobacco products.
