Ukraine has implemented multiple measures to protect energy facilities from missile strikes,
said Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at the Future of Ukrainian Energy forum. “Ukraine today has a significantly greater number of and more powerful air defense systems. Our air defense has become even more complex and experienced,” he said.
The second factor is that Russia has reduced the number of missiles being fired and cannot produce them fast enough.
In addition, Ukraine conducted a large-scale repair campaign. Seven nuclear power units are operating today, and repairs are being completed on two more. In addition, TPP power units and HPP units will be put into operation before the winter. “Also, 80% of the main networks have been repaired,” Shmyhal added.
Ukraine has built a unique multi-level protection system for its energy facilities: passive (engineering fortifications) and active (air defense). Also, the decentralization of the energy system continues.
Ukraine’s allies have helped by providing $2.3B for energy restoration and protection.
At the same time, the capacity of electricity imports from the EU has more than doubled, from 500 MW to 1,200 MW.
