Ukraine adapts its product monitoring to EU requirements to implement industrial visa-free travel.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft amendment to the legislation governing market surveillance, the primary purpose of which is to implement European safety standards and consumer protection in Ukraine. In addition, adopting this draft law is an essential step towards implementing industrial visa-free travel with the EU, which will open new opportunities for Ukrainian manufacturers in European markets.
After signing the Association Agreement with the EU and in preparation for the conclusion of the Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (ACAA), Ukraine adapted a significant portion of its legislation to European requirements. However, due to market globalization, the complexity of supply chains, and the rapid growth of online sales, the EU continues to improve its regulatory framework to provide consumer safety, and Ukraine supports this process by harmonizing its legislation with updated EU standards.
The draft law contains the following changes:
- expansion of state market surveillance to online trade
- strengthening of consumer protection in the non-food niche
- acceleration of the procedure for importing goods
- development of a national market surveillance strategy
