Turkey closes the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles for warships.

Turkey will implement the provisions of the Montreux Convention, in accordance with the provisions of the Montreux Convention in times of war when Turkey is not a belligerent party. The Convention prohibits the passage of straits by warships of countries that are participants in the war, with some exceptions. The announcement was made by the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, on CNN Türk, Ukrinform has reported. “It has already turned into a war. This is not a military operation; it is officially a state of war. In this case, of course, whoever we are, such as Russia or Ukraine, we will comply with the provisions of the Montreux Convention accordingly”, said Cavusoglu.
