The World Bank will increase support for Ukraine’s energy sector.

Ukraine and the World Bank will deepen their collaboration in key aspects of reconstruction and development of the Ukrainian energy industry. The parties agreed to enhance cooperation in the following areas:

  • Securing funding to quickly replace equipment damaged by Russian attacks
  • Expanding renewable energy sources and distributed generation, particularly through grants and investment
  • Strengthening cooperation in nuclear energy, including research and innovative solutions
  • Continuing the RePower project, which involves purchasing equipment, building protective structures, and developing distributed generation.

A new joint project between the World Bank and Ukrhydroenergo is also planned. It aims to improve energy system flexibility, develop energy storage, and support decarbonization efforts. The World Bank emphasizes that the energy sector remains a top priority in Ukraine. The organization will expand its team to enhance technical and expert support.
